AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who plays as captain and striker for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the highest level of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe between 2018 until 2020. [8][9] Shortly after graduating early from the University of California, Berkeley in the USA, where she played for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional at the club and helped the team win its league championship. Morgan at the time, who was 22 years old, was the youngest national player to play at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 where she placed second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final game at the 2012 London Olympics. Her 2012 ended with 28 goals, 21 assists and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score both 20 and 20 goals. This made her the sixth-youngest U.S. player ever to reach 20 goals in one season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was an FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan played a role in helping to help the United States win the title at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups. She was named to the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
